Inward Terms of Service

Effective date: October 17, 2026

1. Who we are and how these Terms apply

These Terms are an agreement between you and Inward Wellbeing PBC, a Delaware public benefit corporation operating in California as Inward at inward.org. You can reach us at support@inward.org. In these Terms, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Inward.

These Terms cover our website, reports, sessions, coaching, groups, and related materials, together called the “Services.” By accessing or using the Services, or accepting these Terms when you order, apply, or enroll, you agree to this agreement. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

Our AI Terms supplement these Terms for AI-assisted work. Our Disclosure explains the nature and limits of our guidance and is part of this agreement. Our Privacy Policy governs how we handle personal information. Accepting this agreement does not replace a separate consent required by law for recording, recurring charges, or a particular use of personal information.

The description and purchase terms shown when you order are part of your purchase. A separate coaching or enrollment agreement controls where it expressly sets different terms for that service. The AI Terms control a conflict about AI-assisted work only; the Privacy Policy controls a conflict about handling personal information. These Terms supply the liability limits and dispute process for the whole agreement, unless a separate signed agreement expressly changes them. Nothing in the AI Terms or Disclosure removes an express purchase promise, refund guarantee, or right that the law does not let you waive.

Section 16 contains binding individual arbitration in California, a class-action waiver, a deadline for bringing certain claims, and a 30-day right to opt out of arbitration. Arbitration requires the affirmative acceptance described in that section; browsing the website does not start the opt-out period. Please read it carefully.

2. What Inward provides

Inward provides personal development services. Our reports use a traditional Chinese method based on birth details. Our practices, groups, and coaching help you reflect, make decisions, and work on changes in everyday life.

Patterns Report. A personalized written report, delivered by email as a PDF, with the scope described in the offer you purchase. It includes your core pattern, strengths, pressure response, blind spot, and present season. The personal context you share helps us connect that pattern to the situation you want to understand. The Patterns Report does not compare future options or tell you which decision to make.

Helm. A 90-day private coaching engagement with CK for founders. You apply first. We discuss fit, schedule, and support before you commit. Your individual agreement sets the sessions, support, payment terms, and cancellation terms included in your engagement. Submitting an application does not purchase coaching or guarantee acceptance.

Crew. Group support and practice. Joining a waitlist does not enroll you, authorize a charge, or start a subscription. If you later choose to enroll, the offer and enrollment terms will state the schedule, price, billing period, and whether the membership renews automatically.

Any other service, gift, discount, or credit is subject to the terms disclosed when it is offered. A purchase does not automatically include another service, ongoing coaching, or an upgrade credit unless the offer says so.

3. Who can use our services

You must be at least 18 and able to enter into an agreement. Give us accurate contact and payment information, and keep information needed to deliver your service up to date.

If you submit another person’s birth details, we proceed on the understanding that those details were shared with you. We rely on your submission and do not independently verify how you obtained them.

Buying a gift does not give you access to the recipient’s private intake, report, or session. The recipient decides whether to share those with you.

Keep private session links and any passwords or access codes we provide secure. Tell us promptly at support@inward.org if you suspect unauthorized access to our services or your private information.

4. Birth details, intake, and delivery

The Patterns Report uses your birth date, birth time, and birth city. We treat the details you submit as accurate and do not independently verify birth records. You must give your birth time, accurate to within about two hours, to order a report. If you’ve already paid, we’ll ask you for it. If you can’t find it, we’ll refund you in full. We do not prepare reports without a birth time.

Your report depends on the information you provide. Inaccurate birth details can affect it. The guarantee in Section 8 still applies. Your intake answers guide the focus of your report; they do not change your underlying pattern.

We send your Patterns Report PDF to the email address you provide within 1 day of receiving your birth details. If we need to ask you a few questions, the 1 day starts once you answer. If it’s late, reply to your receipt or email support@inward.org and ask us for a refund.

5. AI-assisted work and possible errors

The Patterns Report uses a structured interpretation engine and AI tools to produce its written report. Our team may also use AI and other software to prepare reports, draft materials, transcribe recordings with consent, and support coaching. The AI Terms apply to that work, including work our team performs behind the scenes.

Both AI systems and people can make mistakes. Content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable even when it is detailed, confident, personalized, or reviewed by a practitioner or lineage holder. No review process guarantees accuracy or suitability.

Our reports are interpretations. They do not establish verified facts about a person or guarantee future events. Use your own judgment, check important facts, and consider qualified advice. Do not use our content as the sole basis for an important decision, including a decision to wait or take no action.

6. General guidance, professional advice, and results

Our Services provide general information and guidance for reflection and personal development. This applies to ideas, interpretations, perspectives, examples, suggestions, and practices in reports, website materials, sessions, and coaching, whether written or spoken.

That content is not medical, mental-health, financial, investment, tax, legal, or other expert professional advice. Personalizing it to your birth details, experiences, or questions does not make it a professional assessment, diagnosis, treatment plan, or recommendation from a licensed adviser. We do not diagnose or treat conditions.

Before applying a suggestion or drawing a conclusion that could affect your health, mental health, finances, legal rights, or another matter requiring professional judgment, consult an appropriately qualified professional. Do not disregard professional advice or delay seeking appropriate care because of something in our content.

We do not guarantee income, business growth, career changes, relationship outcomes, health changes, or any other result. Our Disclosure explains professional-advice limits, timing interpretations, client stories, and your responsibility for decisions. The same limits apply to human and AI-assisted guidance.

7. Practices and participation

Some sessions may include gentle breathing, attention, or movement practices. You choose whether to take part. Tell us about any limits relevant to your participation, follow qualified medical advice, and stop if a practice causes pain, dizziness, or distress.

Do not practice breath exercises while driving, operating equipment, or in water. These practices are not medical treatment.

8. Payment, refunds, and cancellation

Prices and payment. Your price, payment schedule, and any applicable tax are shown before you pay or accept a separate agreement. Payments are processed through Stripe or the payment service identified at checkout. An installment plan for a fixed engagement is different from an automatically renewing subscription; the applicable offer will explain which you are buying.

Fees are non-refundable except as expressly provided in this section, your purchase terms, a separate agreement, or applicable law. A disclaimer elsewhere in this agreement does not cancel a refund you are entitled to receive.

Patterns Report guarantee. If your Patterns Report doesn’t feel like it sees you, or you’re unhappy with it for any reason, reply to your receipt or email support@inward.org and ask us for a refund. There is no time limit. The same applies if your Patterns Report is not sent within the delivery time in Section 4. We will refund the amount paid for that Patterns Report to the original payment method. Your word is enough. For a gift, the refund goes to the purchaser. This guarantee does not require you to buy another service.

Helm and other coaching. Your individual agreement sets the payment schedule, session cancellation rules, ending date, and any refund terms. Applying does not authorize a charge.

Crew and recurring services. An automatic renewal applies only if it is clearly disclosed and you separately agree to it before being charged. The enrollment terms state the amount, billing interval, renewal timing, cancellation method, and any refund terms. Joining a waitlist is not that agreement.

You can stop future renewals using the cancellation method provided when you enroll or by emailing support@inward.org. Online enrollment includes an online cancellation method. Cancellation stops future renewal charges; access continues through the paid period unless you request otherwise or your enrollment terms say otherwise. A refund for an already-started period depends on those terms and applicable law.

For recurring services, we provide required confirmations, reminders, and notices of material changes or price changes, including instructions for canceling. A price change does not alter a period you have already paid for.

If we cannot deliver. If we cancel a service and cannot agree with you on a replacement, we refund the part you paid for and did not receive, subject to any more favorable purchase terms or legal rights.

Failed payments. We may pause unpaid services while a failed payment is resolved. We will contact you about the issue.

9. Group conduct and confidentiality

In a group, keep other members’ personal and business information private. Do not record, photograph, transcribe, or share a session without the permission of Inward and the affected participants. Do not solicit members, harass anyone, or use the group to pitch your business.

We require members to respect confidentiality, but cannot guarantee another participant’s conduct. Share only what you are comfortable sharing with the group.

Other members speak for themselves. Their comments are not professional advice from Inward. You remain responsible for your decisions.

We may remove someone who breaches these rules. Any remaining payment or refund rights are governed by the enrollment agreement and applicable law.

10. Session recordings and transcripts

We record group and coaching sessions for service delivery, quality review, team training, and improvement of our services and report engine. A private session may also be recorded when this is disclosed for that session.

We ask for consent before recording or activating an AI transcription assistant. Tell us before your session if you do not want to be recorded so we can discuss available options. A new participant must be informed and asked for consent before being included in a recording.

Authorized team members and providers that host, transcribe, or analyze the recording may process it for these purposes. That provider access is described in our Privacy Policy. We do not publish a recording, use it in marketing, or distribute it to other clients without separate written permission from the people whose information would be disclosed.

11. Your information, your report, and our materials

You retain your rights in the information and materials you provide. You give Inward a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to receive, store, copy, analyze, and adapt those materials for delivering and supporting the Services, protecting them, complying with law, and developing and improving our methods, systems, and Services as described in the Privacy Policy. We may allow providers working on our behalf to perform those tasks.

This license covers the disclosed use of client information for quality review and improvement of our interpretation engine. It does not authorize publication of private information or give providers unrestricted permission to train their own general-purpose AI models. The purposes, duration, and handling of personal information remain subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable privacy rights, including required consent, withdrawal, and deletion rights. The AI Terms explain how this applies to AI-assisted work.

Subject to these Terms and any applicable payment, Inward gives you a limited, non-exclusive license to keep and use the report and other materials delivered to you for your own reflection and personal development. Where relevant to the service you purchased, this includes your own internal business planning. You may share your own copy privately with someone close to you or with an adviser. Be mindful of any information about another person included in it.

You may not resell our materials, publish them as your own, distribute them commercially, or use them to build a competing product or service without our written permission. Inward retains its rights in its original materials, branding, software, and proprietary methods. These restrictions do not limit rights the law gives you.

We may use non-personal suggestions to improve our services without paying for them. Publishing your name, photo, identifiable story, or testimonial requires separate written permission. Providing private feedback or accepting these Terms is not permission to use it in advertising.

12. Acceptable use and outside services

Do not use our services unlawfully, infringe another person’s rights, impersonate someone, interfere with our systems, collect other clients’ information, or harass our team or clients. Do not present a report as a medical diagnosis or as advice from a licensed professional.

Do not attempt unauthorized access, introduce viruses or other harmful code, or bypass security controls. Do not reverse engineer our software or attempt to extract private source code, except where applicable law permits it.

Without Inward’s written permission, do not scrape or collect our website or materials through automated tools, use them to train AI models, or bypass our published access restrictions. Access we authorize for a tool or reviewer remains allowed. These restrictions do not prevent the use of assistive technology or the personal use and private sharing of your own report permitted by Section 11.

We use outside services for payment, hosting, communications, scheduling, AI processing, and other delivery needs. Their separate services may be subject to their own terms and privacy notices. This does not remove Inward’s obligations for the service you bought or our handling of your information.

Our website and materials may also link to independent websites, content, or services. A link does not mean that we endorse or guarantee them. Review their terms and privacy notices before using them. We do not control their independent content or practices. This does not remove our obligations for providers acting on our behalf.

13. Warranties

We honor the express commitments in your purchase terms, including any applicable refund guarantee.

SUBJECT TO THOSE COMMITMENTS AND YOUR RIGHTS UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, OUR SERVICES AND CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT CONTENT CREATED OR REVIEWED BY PEOPLE OR AI WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, CURRENT, FREE OF ERRORS, OR SUITABLE FOR YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES; THAT ACCESS WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED; OR THAT A PARTICULAR RESULT WILL FOLLOW.

14. Limits on liability

SUBJECT TO THE EXCEPTIONS BELOW AND TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, INWARD AND ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS DISCLAIM LIABILITY FOR LOSS, DAMAGE, OR INJURY RESULTING FROM YOUR RELIANCE ON, INTERPRETATION OF, OR APPLICATION OF OUR CONTENT. THIS INCLUDES PERSPECTIVES, IDEAS, SUGGESTIONS, AND PRACTICES IN REPORTS, SESSIONS, COACHING, AND OTHER MATERIALS, AND DECISIONS TO ACT, DELAY, OR REFRAIN FROM ACTING IN RELATION TO CAREER, MONEY, BUSINESS, MARRIAGE, FAMILY, OR OTHER AREAS OF LIFE.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE PARTIES PROTECTED BY THIS SECTION WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE SERVICES, INCLUDING LOST INCOME, PROFITS, BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, DATA, OR GOODWILL.

THE TOTAL COMBINED LIABILITY OF ALL PARTIES PROTECTED BY THIS SECTION FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM THIS AGREEMENT OR THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF US $100 OR THE FEES YOU PAID INWARD FOR THE PARTICULAR SERVICE GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM DURING THE ONE MONTH IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. THIS IS ONE AGGREGATE LIMIT, INCLUDING CLAIMS UNDER THE AI TERMS, DISCLOSURE, AND PRIVACY POLICY; IT IS NOT A SEPARATE LIMIT FOR EACH DOCUMENT, CLAIM, OR PARTY.

SUBJECT TO THE EXCEPTIONS BELOW, THESE EXCLUSIONS AND THIS CAP APPLY WHETHER A CLAIM IS BASED ON CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), WARRANTY, OR ANOTHER LEGAL THEORY, AND EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF THE DAMAGES.

The disclaimers and limits throughout this agreement do not restrict an express purchase commitment or refund obligation, a right or liability that cannot lawfully be limited, or liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or death or personal injury where the law prohibits that limit. They do not limit fees Inward must pay to administer arbitration under Section 16. Some jurisdictions do not allow particular exclusions; those exclusions do not apply to you where prohibited.

15. Indemnity for third-party claims

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Inward and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and providers against third-party claims arising from your unlawful or unauthorized use of the Services, materials you submit that infringe another person’s rights or violate law, or your material breach of this agreement. This includes reasonable legal fees, defense costs, damages, and settlements attributable to the covered claim. This obligation does not apply to the extent the claim results from the protected party’s own wrongdoing or requires you to give up a consumer right that cannot be waived.

We will give you prompt notice and reasonable cooperation. We may participate in the defense with our own counsel at our own expense, except where separate counsel is reasonably necessary because of a conflict attributable to the covered claim. Neither side may settle a covered claim in a way that admits fault by, imposes a non-monetary obligation on, or fails to release the other side without that side’s agreement.

16. Resolving disputes

Agreement to arbitrate. The arbitration agreement and related jury-trial and class-action waiver in this section apply only after you affirmatively accept them when placing an order, enrolling in a service, or signing a separate agreement that incorporates these Terms. We present notice of arbitration and a link to these Terms with that acceptance. Visiting or browsing the website alone does not constitute acceptance of arbitration or start your opt-out period.

Informal resolution. Contact support@inward.org with your name, contact information, a description of the dispute, and the outcome you are seeking. We will send any notice to you using the contact information you supplied. Before starting arbitration, both sides will try in good faith to resolve the dispute for 15 days after receiving written notice. This does not prevent either side from using small-claims court or seeking relief that cannot lawfully be delayed. Either side may make a filing needed to preserve a legal deadline.

Mediation. We may agree to mediation by video or in another mutually agreed location. Mediation is optional. Neither side must agree to a mediator or a cost arrangement it has not accepted.

Arbitration. Except for the exclusions below, disputes relating to this agreement or the Services, including the AI Terms, Disclosure, and our handling of personal information, will be resolved through individual binding arbitration administered by JAMS under its Comprehensive Arbitration Rules and Procedures. For consumer disputes, the JAMS Consumer Minimum Standards also apply and control any conflict with this agreement. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this arbitration agreement where applicable.

Arbitration will take place in California before one neutral arbitrator selected by agreement or through the JAMS selection process. Hearings may take place remotely where permitted by the rules. The location and format must allow meaningful participation; any different arrangement required by applicable law or JAMS consumer standards will be honored. The arbitrator may award remedies available under applicable law and will issue a written decision. A court with jurisdiction may enter judgment on the award.

Arbitration fees and legal costs. In a consumer case you initiate, your required arbitration fee will not exceed $250, or any lower amount required by JAMS or law. Inward pays the remaining required arbitration costs. If Inward initiates a consumer case, Inward pays those arbitration costs. Each side bears its own legal fees unless applicable law provides otherwise. This agreement does not require a consumer who loses to pay Inward’s legal fees or costs. For a commercial dispute, costs and any fee award follow the JAMS rules, applicable law, and any separate signed agreement. Purchasing a service as a founder does not by itself determine whether the purchase is commercial or personal.

JURY TRIAL AND CLASS-ACTION WAIVER. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, YOU AND INWARD AGREE TO RESOLVE COVERED CLAIMS INDIVIDUALLY IN ARBITRATION, RATHER THAN THROUGH A JURY TRIAL OR A CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION.

Exceptions. Either side may bring an eligible claim in small-claims court. Claims and remedies that the law does not allow to be waived or arbitrated, including any nonwaivable right to seek public injunctive relief, remain available in the proper forum. A court decides whether this arbitration agreement is enforceable. If an arbitration restriction is unenforceable, the affected claim or remedy may proceed in court as required by law.

Opt out within 30 days. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing support@inward.org within 30 days after you first affirmatively accept it through the process described above. Include your name, the email associated with your order, enrollment, or agreement, and a clear statement that you opt out of arbitration. Opting out removes both parties’ obligation to arbitrate and the related jury-trial and class-action waiver in this section. It does not change the other Terms or your access to our services.

Deadline for claims. To the extent permitted by law, either side must start a claim arising from this agreement or the Services within one year after the claim accrues. This provision does not shorten a period that cannot lawfully be shortened or remove a nonwaivable claim or remedy. The one-year contractual period is paused during the required informal-resolution period and any mediation the parties agree to undertake. Other legally required extensions and tolling rules remain available.

17. Ending services

You can stop using our services at any time. Canceling a subscription or ending a coaching engagement follows the applicable purchase or enrollment terms.

We may suspend or end access for a material breach, unlawful use, harassment, or a serious risk to other people or our systems. We may also end a service if the law requires it. Any refund rights remain subject to Section 8, your individual agreement, and applicable law.

Provisions that by their nature should continue, including payment obligations already incurred, confidentiality, intellectual property, liability limits, and dispute resolution, continue after services end.

18. Changes, governing law, and contact

We may update these Terms and their supplemental documents. The effective date identifies the current version. Material changes affecting an ongoing service will be communicated in advance by email or another direct notice. Your continued use after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Where applicable law requires separate consent or renewed agreement, we obtain it. Updates do not retroactively remove an express promise made for a purchase you already completed or change the dispute terms governing a claim that has already arisen.

California law governs these Terms, without its conflict-of-laws rules, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs the arbitration agreement where applicable. This does not remove mandatory protections you have under the law where you live.

These Terms, the incorporated AI Terms and Disclosure, the Privacy Policy for personal-information handling, the applicable purchase terms, and any separate agreement make up our agreement for the service, subject to the order of precedence in Section 1. If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue where the law permits. A delay in enforcing a provision does not waive it. You may not transfer this agreement without our consent, except where the law permits. Inward may transfer it to a successor that assumes the applicable obligations.

Accessibility. If a disability makes it difficult to use our website, read a document, or take part in a service, email support@inward.org. Describe what you were trying to access and the difficulty you encountered. We will work with you on an accessible way to receive the information or service.
